Global accessibility map commissioned by the World Bank's Reshapinging Economic Geography report, showing travel distance to major cities. The most striking conclusion of this map to me was the shrinking amount of true wilderness - only ten percent of land area is truly remote, by their definition 48 hours distance or more from a major city.

Found: Paper Dragons

I just installed the new beta of Picasa for Mac and started digging into my old files. I found an old favorite from my freshman year at Oberlin. 

Cut this picture out of heavy paper and assemble, the dragon's head follows you wherever you look.

Our New Capital

Bryan Boyer's redesign of the capitol building is pretty inspiring. His attention to detail is really nice, especially the commemorative plates.
