Is that funny in French? Everything in the area has Teton in the name - and we met more than a few French speaking families on our trip. Maybe they're too dignified to smirk at things like that.

The Orwell Diaries

One last late-night link before I really get down to managing all the images I've been meaning to post to this blog.

Starting today (Saturday), George Orwell's diary will be published daily in blog format. It's an interesting way of presenting work created generations ago. In fact the first diary entry was written exactly seventy years ago today and mainly deals with a snake encounter. As a compilation, I think I would probably avoid this body of work, but broken up like this I'm looking forward to his entries showing up in my feed reader every day.

Strange Overtones

It's been 27 years since David Byrne and Brian Eno released an album together, so it's pretty exciting that their new album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today is coming out this month on the 18th. It looks like it'll be a more traditional pop album than Bush of Ghosts, with Byrne singing and writing most of the lyrics and Eno composing most of the music. 

The release is going to be In Rainbows style, with little to no marketing for the album and an initial download-only distribution. So far there's no label for the album either.

The first single was just released, it's a free download when you supply an email address. I've only listened to it once so far but it sounded pretty good.

POT ∞ VASE

I really like this vase concept from the design group BCXSY - the water from the cut flowers sustains the plants growing around them. Slow death maintains slow growth... very circle of life. Just a prototype for now but I hope it gets produced.
